UNIVERSITY PARK, IL – For three quarters Saturday, Governors State had the nation's 15th-ranked team on the ropes. Purdue Northwest then outscored GSU, 28-7, over the final 10 minutes to record a 79-61 win on Senior Day at the Athletics and Recreation Center.

Deno Cassidy proved unstoppable for the Pride, finishing with 36 points, the second-most points ever scored by an opposing player. GSU was paced by Achuynnua Robinson's 19 points while senior classmate Zaporia Smith finished with a double-double (13 points, 12 rebounds). Amber Brooks capped a stellar rookie season with 12 points and nine rebounds. Her 388 total points and 261 rebounds this season were team-best marks.

PNW (23-7, 18-3 CCAC), which was playing its final regular season game in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC), swept the season series against GSU.

"I was really proud of our team's effort today," said GSU Head Coach La Toshia Burrell. "We played with a lot of heart and desire and battled hard to try and win this game for our seniors."

Governors State closed its campagin with a 7-22 overall record and a 6-15 mark in the CCAC, placing seventh in the South Division standings.
