CRETE, IL – The Governors State men's golf team made the most of its Spring home opener, posting a 301 score to claim the first round lead at the Jaguar Spring Invitational Friday. GSU holds a six-stroke cushion over Trinity Christian (307) heading into tomorrow's final round. Calumet St. Joseph (328) stands third and Robert Morris (362) fourth.

GSU freshman Mike Rosinia leads a field of 20 golfers after registering a two-over-par 73 at the 6,306-yard Lincoln Oaks Golf Course. GSU placed three golfers in the Top-5 with Casey Domke tying for third place (75) and Matt Contey (76) right behind in fifth. Jack Calderone figured in team scoring with a 77 to tie for sixth place while Kevin Stoffle carded a 79 to claim ninth place. Senior John Ciscato shot a 91 in making his sixth consecutive start.

"It's a good start for our team and hopefully we can keep the momentum going for tomorrow," said GSU Head Coach Mark Haines.

GSU will be shooting for its first-ever team title when the Invitational concludes on Saturday.
