CRETE, IL – In a tournament finish that came down to the last few holes, Governors State (606) was edged out by Trinity Christian (604) for the team title at the inaugural Jaguar Spring Invitational. GSU's score was a new school record for 36 holes. The Trolls overcame a six-stroke deficit as Steven Massey and Alex Svabek both shot 148 over two rounds to share the individual title. Calumet St. Joseph (658) and Robert Morris (735) rounded out the field.

Playing on their home course at Lincoln Oaks, three GSU golfers earned medalist honors with Top-5 finishes — Matt Contey (150) claimed third, Casey Domke (151) placed fourth and Jack Calderone (152) tied for fifth.

Other Jaguar performances included a seventh-place showing from Mike Rosinia (153) and an 11th-place effort from Kevin Stoffle (159). John Ciscato shot a 189 competing as an individual.

"I'm extremely happy with our consistent play over the last two days," said GSU Head Coach Mark Haines. "The play of our three freshmen gives us a good core group for the future."

The Jaguars travel to the St. Francis Spring Invitational on Tuesday.
