CROWN POINT, IN – The Governors State men's golf team concluded play at the Mike Lalaeff Memorial Invitational Friday afternoon, carding a team score of 641 over 36 holes to place fourth out of seven teams. Host school Purdue Northwest (603) won the team title going away by 28 strokes ahead of runner-up Olivet Nazarene (631), Saint Xavier (638), GSU, IU Northwest (644), Trinity Christian (646) and Robert Morris (721).
Jack Calderone was one of five medalists to earn a spot on the all-tournament team. He finished tied for third overall with a two-day total of 151, including a team low-round of 73 today at the White Hawk Country Club. Teammate Matt Contey finished in the Top-10 with an eighth-place showing (79-75—154) and Casey Domke tied for 14th (80-79—159). John Orowick and Sam Billman also competed for the Jaguars.
"Our scoring was a little more spread out for this tournament, whereas lately we've been finishing as a pack near the leaders," said GSU Head Coach Mark Haines. "We've been playing a lot of golf lately and look forward to getting back at it next week."
GSU travles to the Chi-Town Fall Classic on Monday and Tuesday.
