UNIVERSITY PARK, IL – Hoping to make up ground in the CCAC standings on Saturday, Governors State instead had to settle for a pair of losses as the CCAC Crossover came to a close at the Athletics & Recreation Center. The Crossover pits teams from the North Division against squads from the South Division. GSU is 1-9 all-time against the North in the Crossover format.
GSU started the day with a 3-1 loss to Judson by the scores of 25-23, 19-25, 18-25, 19-25, which was followed by a 3-0 loss to Robert Morris by the game scores of 18-25, 13-25, 7-25.
"We're a program that's still finding its way in this conference," said GSU Head Coach Pedro Gonzalez. "We've certainly have made some strides, but still have much work to do."
The Jaguars (11-10, 1-7 CCAC) showed promise against Judson (15-9, 3-6 CCAC), taking the first set. Ashley Picket drilled 13 spikes and Anastasija Jurisic tracked down 12 digs but it wasn't enough as the Eagles received strong efforts from Katie Valeria (18 kills) and Taylor Konchel (14 kills).
GSU struggled offensively against Robert Morris (7-10, 3-6 CCAC), mustering just 20 kills and committing 20 errors on 93 attempts (for a .000 attack percentage).
GSU looks to get back on track Tuesday when St. Francis visits the ARC in a 7 p.m. start.
