The Jaguar, GSU's new athletic logo, will lead our growing athletic program with a strong competitive spirit. The jaguar was chosen for its intelligence, speed and agility by popular vote that drew hundreds of nominations and thousands of votes from students, faculty, staff, alumni and members of the community.
Jax the Jaguar, the mighty mascot of Governors State University! Jax is a fierce predator with three passions. One entertaining crowds. Two dancing to music, and three his love for GSU sports. Jax's natural habitat is the GSU gymnasium; however you can request a private appearance for your events.

In the event that an appearance must be cancelled, athletic department personnel must be given three (3) days prior notice.
Jax is available for appearances throughout the year; however, the summer months, as well as, winter break may be harder to fulfill.
Appearance fees vary based on the type of appearance.
- Internal Division of Student Affairs appearances are free of charge.
- University appearances are at minimum $25 per hour.
- External appearances are $50 per hour.
- Pricing for appearances outside of Cook or Will Counties will be determined on a case-by-case basis.
