GSU Athletics: Community Service Update
UNIVERSITY PARK, IL—The Governors State men's and women's basketball teams recently took part in a community service project in Monee, assisting an elderly home owner with outdoor maintenance and cleaning.
Student-athletes and coaches spent several hours ranking and bagging leaves, trimming shrubs and cleaning gutters. The improvements drew the attention of a community member who said: "Wow! No words-speechless. Thanks to you and the teams."
"Our players had a good time helping out, they were really excited and heart-warmed to be doing it," said GSU Head Coach Tonishea Mack.
GSU athletic teams conduct several community projects during the school year that align with the NAIA Champions of Character program and its five core values of ntegrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership.
