Men's Basketball Holds Off Lincoln in University Park

UNIVERSITY PARK, IL—Playing at home for just the second time this month, Governors State posted a 78-77 victory over Lincoln in a CCAC thriller Saturday from the Athletics and Recreation Center.

GSU (9-12, 6-8 CCAC) fell behind by 16 points early in the contest, but rallied in the second half in a game that was knotted at 74-74 with under a minute left. Tariq Deere's layup with 27 seconds remaining put GSU up for good. Lincoln had a chance to win with the last shot, but missed on a three-point attempt at the buzzer.

Adam Taylor knocked down six 3-pointers to finish with a team-high 20 points in 22 minutes of action. DeAndrey Robinson registered a double-double wtih 17 points and 10 rebounds. Payton Harley came off the bench to add 13 points. GSU's rotation included first-time starters in guards Amarion Osborne and Tai Walters-Whitaker. The win avenged a November loss in Lincoln, giving GSU a season split in the series.

Lincoln (8-13, 7-9 CCAC) received 21 points and 16 rebounds from Dejon Barney and 22 points from Aundrae Williams.

GSU travels to Saint Xavier on Monday before hosting IU Northwest on Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the ARC.
