Bushey Named CCAC Runner of the Week

UNIVERSITY PARK, IL—Governors State freshman Nick Bushey has been named Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week by the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC). He is the first men's runner at GSU to win the award.

Bushey recorded the fourth-fastest eight kilometer time in school history to finish 23rd at the Skyhawk Invitational (Oct. 19), helping GSU to its lowest score in program history. He shaved 2 minutes and 13 seconds off his personal record with a time of 30:26. The Kankakee native has posted the team's fastest time at three meets this season.

"What a tremendous honor for Nick, well-deserved," said GSU Head Coach Kevin Kredens. "Nick's the type of runner that every coach would love to have on his team. He quietly gets the job done is smiling a mile wide at the end of the race. I'm very proud of him."

GSU returns to action on Saturday taking part in the NAIA Seminole Valley Stampede in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
