GSU Suffers Conference Loss at Roosevelt
CHICAGO—The latest installment of the Electric Line Rivalry saw Governors State fall to Roosevelt, 62-51, Saturday afternoon at the Goodman Center. The all-time series between the schools located on the same transit line is now tied at 5-5.
Roosevelt (4-6, 3-4 CCAC) led from start to finish, opening a 16-10 lead after 10 minutes and building an eight-point lead at halftime. GSU cut a 15-point, fourth-quarter deficit to seven with 1:25 remaining but ran out of time to complete a comeback.
Sharnita Breeze, who played all 40 minutes, led all scorers with 22 points to go along with seven rebounds. Lotte Miller provided eight points and four assists while guard Jordan Towery saw her first action after missing three games due to injury.
The Lakers received a double-double from Shawna Conger, who compiled 17 points and 10 rebounds. RU finished with 10 blocks and 10 steals on the afternoon.
GSU (4-6, 3-3 CCAC) will host Taylor on Wednesday at 5 p.m. at the ARC.
