Bio

Aaron Harrison is in his sixth season as an assistant coach with the Governors State women’s basketball season.

In the 2021-2022 season, Harrison worked with a squad that ranked fifth in scoring defense (62.4) during conference action. He also instructed post player Trinity Sims who established career highs for points and rebounds.

In 2020-21 Harrison helped the Jaguars sport the second-lowest scoring defense (60.1) in the CCAC. He also worked with GSU's post players including Amber Brooks, who graduated as the program's all-time leading scorer and rebounder.

During the 2019-20 campaign Harrison helped the Jaguars reach the postseason for the first time and worked with an All-MAC Honorable Mention selection in Hydeia Thomas.

In 2018-19, Harrison played a part in the Jaguars winning a school-record 16 games. As a member of the coaching staff, Harrison helped GSU record a six-game winning streak and an upset of 21st-ranked Saint Xavier.

A Chicago native, Harrison has coached at the Example Sports AAU basketball program since 2011. He also formerly served as head coach of the boy’s varsity team at Iroquois West High School.

Harrison possesses a wealth of basketball experience as a former professional player in the international ranks, spending time with Sadska (Czech Republic), Atlético Clube de Portugal and San Marcos (El Salvador).

Harrison also played professionally stateside, winning several championships with the Kankakee County Soldiers of the International Basketball League (IBL) and earning a stint with the Buffalo Stampede of the Premier Basketball League (PBL). Harrison also took part in a summer mini-camp tryout with the Milwaukee Bucks in 2010.

As a collegiate player, Harrison played two seasons at NCAA Division II Oklahoma Panhandle State, earning All-Heartland Conference First Team honors. Harrison also spent two seasons at Triton College.

Harrison graduated from Oklahoma Panhandle State with a bachelor’s degree in sociology and social work after earning an associate’s degree from Triton.

Aaron and his wife Keisha have three daughters and a son.
