JAGUARS COMPETE IN FIRST-EVER INDOOR TRACK MEET AT ONU 1/26/24
BOURBONNAIS, Illinois - -
Governors State University Jaguars Men's and Women's indoor track teams made history last Friday (1/26/24) competing at the Olivet Nazarene University indoor meet for the first competition for the programs.
GSU Men's and Women's Indoor Track Coach John Niendorf was pleased with his Jaguars performances at ONU.
"It was certainly a special moment on the track for GSU history. It was the first time in our history that GSU has competed in track, said Coach Niendorf.
"It made me incredibly proud to see all the athletes just getting out there and putting some solid races together. We are just starting the season and getting the cobwebs out right now, but in a month or so the athletes should be rolling as we move towards outdoor season. I felt that the highlight of the day was watching Russell Ward take first in a couple of his heats and he was also able to split a 52 high in the 400 as a distance runner."
"Overall, I was very happy with how the athletes competed and I believe that it is only up from here for the rest of the season," Niendorf said.
