Saint Xavier Leads Pack of Women's Volleyball All-Academic Selections

CHICAGO --- Saint Xavier University registered the most selections when the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference announced its women's volleyball all-academic honor roll on Tuesday afternoon.  The Cougar program was the only one to boast double-figure recipients with 13 total awardees.

The majority of the rest of the schools were bunched together with nine honorees each from Governors State University, Judson University and St. Ambrose University.  University of St. Francis turned in eight names, while Olivet Nazarene University and Trinity Christian College each had seven members on the squad.

Conference tournament and regular-season champion Viterbo University put five names on the list, Indiana University South Bend four and Calumet College of St. Joseph and Indiana University Northwest three each.  Rounding out the honor roll was Mount Mary University with a pair of picks.

Seven of the 79 players named registered perfect 4.00 cumulative grade point averages.  Thirty-three named were on the team last season with 21 being repeat choices and one dozen gaining the spotlight for the third year in a row.

To be nominated for the award, a student-athlete must have been enrolled at her respective CCAC school for a minimum of one academic year, have completed at least 30 semester hours and boast no less than a 3.25 cumulative grade point average.
