WOMEN'S SOCCER COMPLETE FIRST WEEK OF PRACTICES WITH SCRIMMAGE AT MORTON COLLEGE FRIDAY - SEASON OPENER AUGUST 31 AT PURDUE-NORTHWEST
UNIVERSITY PARK, IL - GSU Women's soccer team completes the first week of 2023 preseason practices with a scrimmage at Morton College on Friday. Fifth Year Head Women's Soccer Coach Ante Cop has been pleased with the first week of Jaguar practices.
Q: -What are you looking to accomplish with the scrimmage Friday and in your first week of practices?
"With all the new faces in our program this year, going up against one of the best junior college programs in the area will be a true test as to where we are in our early season progress. The first few days of preseason has been very good. The ladies have come in with lots of enthusiasm. It has led to some great training sessions and a lot of great bonding on the field and off. Great start so far," said Coach Ante Cop.
Q- With still a few weeks to the Aug 31 opener at Purdue NW - how will you best use the practices to get your team ready for the 2023 season opener?
" We have used the first week of practices to focus on the technical and fitness portions of the game. All of our concentration has been on those two aspects of the game. The next few weeks will have the tactical portion of the game thrown in and we will make sure to have all three portions of the game as sharp as they can get heading into that game against PNW on the 31st," said Coach Cop.
