Governors State University Athletic Director Tony Bates announced the hiring of Jessica Reyes as the new Head Volleyball Coach for GSU, effective May 1.

"I'm excited to invite Coach Reyes to our GSU Family! She brings a wealth of knowledge in coaching both the women's and men's teams from her last institution," said Bates.

Reyes has been the men's and women's head volleyball coach the past three seasons at CCAC Conference opponent Calumet-St. Joseph. She led the CCSJ men's team to the CCAC finals this past Spring 2024 Season with Calumet-St. Joseph and her team had a 20-9 record, 8-2 in CCAC conference games and losing to top seed St. Xavier in the CCAC championship match in April.

Reyes joined the Crimson Wave volleyball coaching staff in 2021 as an assistant coach for both the women's and men's volleyball teams. CCSJ's women's team knocked off three CCAC playoff teams in 2023 and the Crimson Wave men's team has been a two-time CCAC playoffs team.

She became the interim head coach by the end of the 2021 season and was promoted to the volleyball head coach of both programs at the beginning of 2022-2023.

The Crimson Wave men's volleyball team finished 3rd in the CCAC men's volleyball tournament at the end of the 2023 season. For the men's volleyball team it was the first time back in the CCAC tournament since 2017.

Prior to CCSJ, Reyes was the volleyball coach of both the girls' and boys' volleyball team at Diuni Montessori School in Mexico from 2017 to 2020. She was also the assistant coach of the women's volleyball team from 2009 to 2013 at her alma mater - De LaSalle University Bajio (located in Leon, Guanajuato, in Mexico).

As a competitive volleyball player, Coach Reyes played volleyball at De LaSalle University Bajio for four years and played in the national beach volleyball league in Mexico in 2014.

Reyes earned a bachelor's degree in marketing from De LaSalle Bajio University in 2013 and became the owner of volleyball club Mantarravas Cancun, Mexico in 2018.
