Smith Named to CCAC All-Academic Team

UNIVERSITY PARK, IL—Senior Sedona Smith of the Governors State women's golf team has been named to the All-Academic Team by the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference.

The CCAC All-Academic Team recognizes student-athletes with cumulative grade-point averages above 3.25 (entering the Spring 2022 term) who have been enrolled for one academic year and have completed at least 30 semester hours.

Smith turned in a record-setting season in 2021-22, establishing new team marks for lowest scoring average in a season (93.3) and career (95.4). She was named to the Jaguars Fall Invitational All-Tournament Team and compiled the best 36-hole total (174) in school history at the CCAC Cup in October.

Smith recorded the highest finish ever for a GSU female golfer at the CCAC Championships, placing 21st with a team-best score of 188 (a team record for the event). The Freeport, Illinois native was GSU's low scorer at all 12 tournaments she competed in over a two-year period.

A social work major, Smith carries a perfect 4.00 GPA and is a three-time recipient of the GSU Iron Woman Academic Award.
