GSU Men's & Women's Golf 2023 Spring Season Opener at Olivet Nazarene Invitational - (Men Finish 9th, Women Individuals Only)

GSU Head Men's and Women's Golf Coach Fred Hawkins looked forward to the season openers. "Starting at noon both days will make for warmer weather than the early morning starts.  We are getting the teams ready for the CCAC Conference tournament later this spring next month. The women's team will have two individuals competing" (Kylie Maloney, Kelsey Brown). Maloney shot a 105, T23, and Brown 115.

The Jaguar men's team had five players competing, Tyler Bannon, Alex Cortez, Dominic DalPolo, Kevin Kompier, and Hillel Watkins. GSU shot 347, 9th out of 9 men's team. Watkins shot a 81. T28, Cortez 84, Kompier 86, Bannon 96 and DalPalo 115.

Coach Hawkins talked about his men's team and the GSU golf schedule ahead. "We have the potential to be a good team and we need consistency with all the players playing well at the same time. A lot of our schedule is competing against the top Division II and NAIA teams in the area and playing the good courses, helping us in recruiting," said Hawkins.

GSU women next compete at the Saint Xavier Battle at the Creek match play event April 8 in Morris, IL. The Jaguar men's team will also compete at Saint Xavier event April 8 and April 10 at the Judson University Spring Invitational.
