Pablo Pascual Earns 2nd CCAC Conference Attacker of the Week Award!
GSU's Pascual, ONU's Van Laten, Byers Secure Final Weekly Men's Volleyball Awards For 2026
CHICAGO --- Governors State University's Pablo Pascual (Madrid, Spain) and Olivet Nazarene University's Tyler Van Laten (Elmhurst, Ill.) each collected their second Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference weekly men's volleyball honor, while Van Laten's teammate Will Byers (Westfield, Ind.) claimed his first when the league office made the announcement on Wednesday.
Pascual averaged 3.5 kills and 2.33 digs, while hitting at a .300 clip to earn CCAC Attacker of the Week recognition. He also produced three service aces over his six sets played.
The freshman outside hitter's top performance came last Thursday when he totaled 12 kills and registered a .318 attack percentage in a three-set win over Judson University. Two days earlier, he matched his nine kills with nine digs and added two aces in a straight-set win over Trinity Christian College last Tuesday.
The two wins locked down the No. 2 seed for Governors State in the upcoming CCAC Tournament. The Jaguars went 12-2 during the league's regular season and are 18-10 overall.
CCAC Defender of the Week honors went to Van Laten, who averaged 2.75 digs per set to go along with a .939 reception percentage. He recorded 46 passes in 49 chances.
The sophomore defensive specialist totaled 18 digs (3.6 avg.) and 37 receptions to open the week in a five-set victory over St. Ambrose on Tuesday. He went on to deliver nine passes and four digs in a three-set nod over Trinity Christian on Thursday.
Byers averaged 9.0 assists and 2.38 digs per set to nail down CCAC Setter of the Week accord.
The junior was consistent, averaging the 9.0 assists per set in each of the two wins, recording 45 in the St. Ambrose match and 27 versus Trinity Christian. He also had a double-double in the St. Ambrose contest with his 11 digs.
ONU's 2-0 week moved the Tigers to 16-13 overall and 9-5 in league matchups.
