Paris Named NAIA-Daktronics Scholar-Athlete

UNIVERSITY PARK, IL — Senior Kendall Paris of the Governors State women's golf team has been named an NAIA-Daktronics Scholar-Athlete by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics.

The award recognizes student-athletes who are juniors or above in academic standing and own a cumulative grade-point average of 3.5 or higher (as of the 2018 Fall Term). They also must have attended two full years at their respective institution or a full year as a transfer. A total of 156 female golfers were recognized by the NAIA.

Over the course of two seasons, Paris set nine school records, including career scoring average (98.5). She finished as GSU's low scorer in all 14 tournaments she competed in, posted five Top-10 performances and became the first GSU golfer to earn Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Golfer of the Week honors.

In 2018-19, Paris appeared in a team-high five tournaments, finishing with a season-low 94 during the final round of the CCAC Championships.

A Flossmoor native, Paris earned a 4.00 grade-point average this spring term, graduating May 18 with a Bachelor of Health Science in Communication Disorders.
