GSU SUFFERS FIVE-SET LOSS TO CARDINAL STRITCH
UNIVERSITY PARK, IL—Governors State returned home Tuesday to take on the Cardinal Stritch Wolves and came away with a 25-11, 25-16, 25-19 conference loss in the Athletic and Recreation Center.
The Orange and Black (4-14, 0-11) were led by Super Senior Ivana Novakovic with 20 kills and seven digs. Dunja Tatic compiled 16 kills and 17 digs on the night. Tatic's 155 kills in conference play ranks second-best in the CCAC. Yareli Pacheco had a great assist night with 42 and also ended with six digs.
CSU (13-12, 6-5), the CCAC's sixth-place team, traded victories the first- four sets against GSU until closing it out 15-3 in the fifth set. The Wolves were led by Sydney Hoffman with 9 kills and 8 digs.
"We've had so many injuries and so little time to practice together, it feels like preseason," said GSU Head Coach Pete Gonzalez. "We showed some ability tonight and hung tough but then it got away from us."
