Perez, Navarrete Selected to CCAC All-Academic Team
UNIVERSITY PARK, IL—Seniors Daniel Perez and Miguel Navarrete have been named to the Men's Cross Country All-Academic Team by the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference.
The CCAC All-Academic Team recognizes student-athletes with cumulative grade-point averages above 3.25 (entering the Spring 2021 term) who have been enrolled for one academic year and have completed at least 30 semester hours.
A two-time all-academic team selection, Perez participated in the CCAC Championships for the third time last November. Perez did not miss a meet in his three seasons at GSU, setting a school record with 18 consecutive race appearances. A team captain, Perez graduated in December with a degree in information technology. He is a native of Chicago Heights.
Navarrete saw action in three races, clocking a personal-best time of 34:58.3 at the CCAC Championships. He made his Jaguar debut September 25 at the Midwest Intercollegiate. A two-sport athlete, Navarrette was also named to the CCAC All-Academic Team for men's soccer. A Chicago native, Navarrete is finishing up a business degree.
"Danny is another one of those extraordinary student-athletes. His studies were important to him and his grades showed that. He overcame several nagging injuries and pains distance runners sometimes get but wanted to compete and never missed a meet," said GSU Head Coach Kevin Kredens. "Miguel is a very solid student, who knows the value of education and athletics, he took advantage of both. Although he is primarily a Jaguar soccer player, he used those running skills to help the Jaguar harriers make some noise at meets this year."
