GSU Athletics: Community Service Update
UNIVERSITY PARK, IL—Members of the Governors State men's and women's cross country teams were earlier risers in serving as volunteers for the Second Annual Jaguar 5K held during Homecoming Week.
As runners themselves, team captains Elizabeth Rios and Dante Miller were ideal volunteers to greet the GSU community which turned out on a Sunday morning for the campus event. They also offered vocal support during the race, which Coach Kevin Kredens says was appreciated.
"It was great to cheer them on, especially the non-competitive runners—those running or walking in something like this for the first time—and to see the smiles on their faces as they pass by. It's important to support our university community and to give back. Liz and Dante showed great leadership in helping out."
