National Letter of Intent: Shane Watkins (MXC)

UNIVERSITY PARK, IL—The Governors State men's cross country team has signed Shane Watkins to a National Letter of Intent for the 2022 season. He is the fourth recruit to commit to the team for next season.

Honors: All-conference selection as a senior ... two-time team MVP at Thornwood HS.
High School: Thornwood High School (2022)
GSU Major: Computer Science
Reason for Choosing GSU: "I chose GSU because it is the best option for me personally, it's nearby, and for the education. I have some knowledge about the area and I know a good amount of people that are going to GSU. Also, the opportunity to run at school was a big motivator for me."
Head Coach John Niendorf:
"Shane is going to bring the character and a work ethic to this team that we are going to need to move up in conference next season. When Shane came for a visit, he instantly got along well with the recruits and current members on the team. I could tell he was not only going to be an excellent runner for us, but also be great for team chemistry."
