On To The Semi-Finals Friday 5:30 PM In the ARC - Gov State beats Viterbo 73-53 In First Round

GovState women's basketball, CCAC regular season champions and #1 seed in the post-season tournament, beat Viterbo University in the ARC tonight 73-53.

The Jaguars (24-5)-set a new school record for wins in a season breaking last year's mark of 23.

The tough GSU defense limited the Vhawks to only 16 first half points and the Jaguars led at halftime 44-16.  Reserves played most of the fourth quarter for both teams.

Five GSU players scored in double figures vs. the Vhawks - Tabetha Jones, 14, Cencere McDaniel 12, Kalvina Eubanks and Alayah Sprattling 11 points each and Zareia Chevre 10.

GSU hosts the tournament semi-finals Friday night at 5:30 vs. IU Northwest (23-6) a 77-72 winner in OT at home vs. St. Xavier.
