2025 CCAC CONFERENCE TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONS!! Jaguars Complete CCAC Double-Double - Beat St. Francis 70-64 In the ARC

CCAC 2025 TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONS! GovState women's basketball beat St. Francis 70-64, to win the post-season tournament CCAC championship Monday night at the ARC!

Governors State won both the CCAC Conference regular season championship (17-3) and did the double winning the post-season tournament vs. the Fighting Saints (24-7). 

GovState was 15-1 in the ARC this season. And in the championship contest came back from 9 points down after the first quarter (24-15) and held the visitors to 9 points in the second quarter to take a 37-33 halftime lead.  The two teams played even in the third quarter and then a fourth quarter 13-4 run by the Jaguars keyed the winning margin for the champs.

GSU (26-5) was paced by Zareia Chevre's double-double 38 points, 11 rebounds in the huge win - women's basketball first-ever CCAC title! GovState also won the conference regular season championship and were the #1 seed for the post-season. "Z' is capping off a tremendous stretch of play with two 40 points games and scoring her 1,000th career points and was also named the National NAIA Player of the Week for the 40 points scored beating IU Northwest 77-67 at home. 

Tabetha Jones scored 12 points and had 8 assists and Cencere McDaniel totaled 7 points, 11 rebounds for the CCAC champions.

With GSU leading late 64-62, Jones hit the biggest shot of the game making a top-of-the key three-pointer with 2:12 left to give the Jaguars a 67-62 into the final 2 minutes. 

Da'Naria Washington then made a huge steal and breakaway layup on the next USF possession for a 69-62 lead with 1:50 remaining.  GSU's defense held the Saints to 2 points down the stretch.

Tha Jaguars next play in the NAIA Nationals later this month, second straight season for Coach Tmack's team to Nationals.

And it was also a Happy Birthday Monday for Coach Tmack!
