WORTH, IL—The Governors State men's golf team commenced its 2022-23 season on Wednesday with a third-place finish at the Troll Classic, held at the Water's Edge Golf Club. Judson won the event with a score of 336, finishing ahead of CCAC brethren Trinity Christian (340) and Governors State (376).

Adam Taylor shot a team-low 82 to tie for third place—three strokes behind medalist Alex Sippy of Judson. Hillel Watkins matched his career-best round with an 83, the same score turned in by Rowdy Frey, who made his debut for the Jaguars. Tyler Bannon finish with a 128 in his first action with the Orange and Black.
"Despite our team being short-handed, I thought the guys really persevered on a tough course," said GSU Head Coach Fred Hawkins.
GSU will hit the road tomorrow to take part in the Clarke Invitational at the Eagle Ridge South Course in Galena, Illinois.
