Rios Signs on with Jaguar Cross Country

UNIVERSITY PARK, IL — The Governors State women's cross country team has landed its latest recruit with the signing of Elizabeth Rios to a National Letter of Intent.

An incoming first-year student, Rios ran cross country at Bloom Township High School, where she was a Sectional qualifier and a four-year member of the soccer team. At Bloom she won the Sportsmanship and 110% Awards.

The daughter of Claudia and Catalino Rios, Elizabeth will be an AIM HIGH Scholarship recipient at GSU.

"Elizabeth comes from a strong academic and athletic tradition at Bloom High School. She is a very positive person and very dedicated, her energy is going to be contagious," stated GSU Head Coach Kevn Kredens. "She came to love cross country her senior year of high school and she placed with her team at the very competitive Andrew regional and competed with her team at the Quincy Sectional."

Rios becomes the third member of GSU's recruiting class, joining Bradley-Bourbonnais Community High School alumnae Megan Jackson and Avery Fountain.
