Maras Chosen to CCAC All-Academic Team

UNIVERSITY PARK, IL—Graduate student Milica Maras of Governors State has been selected to the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Cross Country All-Academic Team. It's the third academic team selection for Maras, who was honored twice in volleyball (2017, 2018).

The CCAC All-Academic Team recognizes student-athletes with cumulative grade-point averages above 3.25 (entering the Fall 2019 term) who have been enrolled for one academic year and have completed at least 30 semester hours.

Maras joined the cross country team after completing three seasons with the Volleyball Jaguars. She took part in six races, figuring in team scoring five times and posted her fastest 5K time of the year (30:20.3) at the most important meet of the season—the CCAC Championships. The Belgrade, Serbia native owns a 4.00 GPA as an accounting major.

Maras is the most academically-decorated student-athlete in GSU's history. In addition to being named an Academic All-American in volleyball, she has earned a CoSIDA All-District award and twice been selected as a NAIA-Daktronics Scholar-Athlete. She received her undergraduate degree last May from GSU before enrolling in graduate school.

"Milica's leadership skills blended well with our young team and her dedication to academics. This is a well-deserved honor for her," said GSU Head Coach Kevin Kredens.
