UNIVERSITY PARK, Illinois - GSU LOSES CCAC HOME OPENER 76-67 TO ROOSEVELT LAKERS
The Jaguars (3-6, 1-1 CCAC) battled back from double-digit points down in the first half to within three points 68-65, with 3:56 to play on a Nick Mikash layup. The Lakers out-scored GSU 8-2 in the final four minutes to hang on and keep their early-season CCAC Conference lead.
Roosevelt University (8-1. 2-0 CCAC) who is receiving votes this week in the NAIA top 25 poll, came out firing and the the athletic, quick Lakers built a 40-27 halftime lead.
GSU junior Kendall Brasfield led the team in scoring with 16 points, hitting 8 of 9 field goals in 15 minutes played off the bench.
Oluyemi Elutilo scored 14 points and four rebounds for Governors State. Mikash led the Jaguars with seven rebounds.
Up next for the Jaguars, Saturday, 3 PM in the GSU ARC vs. St. Xavier (2-4, 1-1 CCAC) - X beat Judson 84-64 at home Wednesday night.
