UNIVERSITY PARK, IL - GSU'S LASHAUN GIST GAME-WINNING THREE-POINTER WITH 1.6 SECONDS LEFT BEATS ST. XAVIER 73-72
The Jaguars lifted their season CCAC Conference record to 2-1 with the exciting last-second victory to beat X (3-5, 2-1 CCAC) in a game that featured nine lead changes and five ties.
Gist's game-winning corner three-pointer came seconds after St. Xavier's Cedric Johnson buried a corner jumper to put the Cougars up 72-70 with eight seconds left.
Governors State led at halftime 41-34 and battled the Cougars throughout forcing X into 23 turnovers and the GSU bench outscored St. Xavier 31-18 with 11 GSU players scoring.
Oluyemi Elutilo led the winners with 21 points and Vincent Davis contributed a double-double with 12 points, 12 rebounds in the home court victory.
GSU shared the basketball totaling 19 assists on 25 made field goals with six players registering two assists each and were led by Lashun Dantzler with 4 dimes.
The Jaguars next are at Judson University, Saturday, December 9, 3 PM.
