GSU was down by 19 points early in the second half (53-34) before out-scoring the Fighting Saints 44-27 in the next 14 minutes to come all the back to 2 points down (80-78) with 2:38 remaining on a three-pointer by Oluyemi Elutilo.
St. Francis (7-15, 6-11 CCAC) hit eight free throws down the stretch and GSU struggled from the free throw line (making 22-33 free throws, 66.7 %) in the home loss.
Elutilo led four Jaguar double figure scorers with 23 points hitting 9-17 field goals and 3-7 three-pointers.
2023-2024 GSU scoring leader Tyrell Isom had 19 points, 7 rebounds, Ben Underwood scored in doubles for the second straight game with 16 points, 6 rebounds hitting 4-8 three-pointers and Jalen Levy scored 12 points in the game.
Governors State (6-19, 4-13 CCAC) next plays Saturday afternoon, 3 PM, February 17 hosting Calumet St. Joseph in the ARC.
