WOMEN'S BASKETBALL AT MEMORIAL JUNIOR HIGH IN LANSING - Q & A WITH THE JAGUARS!
GSU Jaguars women's basketball team was invited to Memorial Junior High School in Lansing, Illinois to work with their 7th and 8th grade girls' basketball team.
Six of the 2023-2024 Governors State Women's basketball team and Head Coach Tonishea Mack and assistant coaches put the girls through a basketball circuit that included: passing , shooting, ball handling, and defense drills teaching them fundamentals of the game.
"The best part about the opportunity at Memorial Junior High was the Q & A session at the end. We opened the floor for the 7th and 8th girls' to ask questions to the players and coaches. This lasted 45 minutes of great dialogue and conversation that I believe not only inspired the young ladies but our current players as well, " said GSU Head Women's Basketball Coach Tonishea Mack.
Current Jaguar players spoke about a multitude of things from: attitudes, energy, time management, bullying, respect, character, hard work, friendship, morals/values, schoolwork/academic, social life, being a student athlete, etc and their answers not only influenced but reflected the NAIA's core values: Integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership.
