JAGUARS UNBEATEN (4-0) IN TIE FOR FIRST PLACE CCAC WITH 69-49 ROAD WIN AT JUDSON
ELGIN, Illinois --
Governors State won on the road at Judson University to remain unbeaten (4-0) in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference beating the Eagles 69-49.
The win sets up an exciting week ahead for the Jaguars now 8-2 on the season. GSU will play two other top teams in the CCAC hosting Olivet Nazarene, Dec. 13, 5 p.m. and then vs. unbeaten (10-0, 4-0 CCAC) and 22nd ranked IU South Bend Saturday, Dec. 16, 1 p.m. in the ARC.
Against Judson Saturday, a 25-point third quarter saw GSU out-score JU by 10 (hitting 62% field goals in the third) to take a 53-38 lead into the fourth.
GSU scored 14 points in both opening quarters and led 28-23 at the half. The Jaguars outscored Judson 41-26 in the second half.
Three-pointers by Kendall Winston (3-7 threes) in the first 20 minutes led the Jaguars in first half scoring with 9 points.
Jaguars' season-scoring leader Tabetha Jones led GSU in scoring (14) , rebounding (7) and assists (6) against the Eagles with nine players scoring in the road victory.
Zareia Chevre had 11 points, 5 steals and Winston scored 11 points to join Jones & Chevre in double figures.
Da'Naria Washington had 8 points, 6 rebounds and 3 steals for the winners.
