The Jaguars won the 2023 Winter Classic championship with a solid 70-44 victory over IU East Friday in the ARC.

GSU's experienced team upped the 2023-24 season record to 11-3 with the two tournament wins and Coach Tonishea Mack is pleased with how the team is responding entering the 2024 portion of the season in January.

"We are all on the same page with our comminication and our experience is good to keep working and improving as we get back into conference play," said Coach Tmack. "We are all accountable to each other and this team will be as good as the weakest parts and to pick each other up and play together."

Team balance showed up again in the championship game win vs. IU East with three players scroing in double figures led by Tabetha Jones 16 points, 6 rebounds, 5 steals, 3 assists and Angelique Cowan 13 points and Da' Naria Washington 12 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists hitting 5-8 field goals.

Ten GSU players scored points in the win and Enija Brown-Griffin had eight points, 2 rebounds and 2 blocked shots in her second straight strong game playing 14 minutes off the bench.

Mount Vernon Nazarene (Ohio) beat Missouri Baptist 71-64 in the earlier second day game of the Winter Classic.
