ANGELIQUE COWAN SCORES 1,000 POINT - JAGUARS SET SCHOOL SEASON WIN RECORD - GSU NOW 17-4 Next at IU SOUTH BEND SATURDAY IN FIRST PLACE BATTLE

UNIVERSITY PARK, Illinois - -

A record-setting night for GSU's women's basketball team Wednesday night in a 76-46 win at the ARC over Judson University.

Angelique Cowan scored her milestone 1,000th career point to become Coach Tmack's third all-time career 1,000 point scorer at Governors State University. Amber Brooks is the career leader (1,567 points, 2016-21) and Sharnita Breeze (1,050 points, 2019-2022) second all-time.

"It's always good when a player can put their name in the record books and this shows how much work Angie has put in. And I am grateful we were able to celebrate this at home. I appreciate everything Angie has done for our program in her career," said GSU Head Women's Basketball Coach Tonishea Mack.

"She not only has scored 1,000 points but she is the all-time assists leader at GSU (Cowan now has 212 career assists after Judson win) and this attests to how her game has elevated and grown since she came out of high school."

Coach Tmack ON TEAM WINNING 17th Game Tonight (GSU now 17-4, 11-2 CCAC) – "We have a good tough group with a lot of experience who have worked hard. I talked to the girls after the game and our goal was not to win 17 games – the goal for us and winning 17 was not the threshold. Winning 17 is great and we want to acknowledge the record and as a team, keep building on these wins and set the high standard for our women's basketball program."

"I am thankful for all the work this team has put in and has shown. This is the year that this team gets to thrive and to do all this and I am thankful for all the hard work we are putting in."

"We have a big game Saturday at South Bend and they are a great team (21-0, 13-0 CCAC, #19 ranked). I think we are disciplined and this particular team loves the big games and we are locked in and more disciplined than the first team we played South Bend (69-63 loss Dec. 16 at GSU)," Coach Tmack said.
